Crossing into Multi-Millions!

Monday, July 30th, 2007

When Craig Ulliott reached 1,000,000 “Where I’ve Been” users, he knew he made it big! But over the weekend, Craig surpassed so many expectations when he reached over 2,000,000 users! Now in the multi-million user category, Craig has been working hard to please all of the users, and although this has become much of a full time job, he enjoys every second of it! He made this application because of his love of travel and technology, and knows that by sharing it with others, millions of others in fact, people are able to share their love of travel with others as well. Blueye Corporation owner, Shannon Smith could not be happier that she is working with Craig as a programmer. Still committed to Blueye, he has done a wonderful job of juggling the two and keeping everyone happy.

A Little Lesson

As employees of Blueye Corporation, a Chicago based web and design firm, we have been working hard together since the company’s inception three years ago. In that time, we have designed logos, websites, print and much more for clients who range from cosmetics to food to consulting and everything in between. We have incorporated all aspects of design and technology for each of our clients which help each one of them be unique. Blueye completes a “4-D Process” with each of our clients that ensures everyone receives a product tailored to their needs. Our focus on individual attention, intricate design, and long term commitment provides each client with outstanding results. Recently having relocated to Wicker Park, one of Chicago’s most up and coming neighborhoods, Blueye has joined the trend by becoming one of Chicago’s most up and coming web and design companies. As owner, Shannon Smith uses her experience to continuously improve Blueye the company as well as Blueye’s services. After graduating from Columbia College, Shannon’s passion for graphic design led her to a small graphic design company where she worked mostly in sales, marketing and project management. Determined to chase her dreams in graphic designing, she began Blueye Corporation herself, naming the company after her own nickname as having “blue eyes.” With the experience she gained in her first job, she was able to incorporate graphic and web design with marketing and sales. As her workload grew, so did her company and she began hiring programmers, more graphic designers, and other staff. However, Shannon is a firm believer in not having employees work for her but with her. The office fosters this environment where the walls are painted blue and open ceilings lead to continuous conversations throughout the day. Never having worked harder, Shannon is a firm beliver in the saying, “good things come to those who wait” and combined with, “what goes around comes around” has led Shannon to be one of the groundbreaking women business owners of her time. Being a women business owner is one of Shannon’s main driving factors, knowing that being a minority is no reason to stop her. In fact, knowing there is no reason women business owners should be in the minority at all, she is eager to help other women business owners develop their marketing and web in order to becoming the driving force in the business world. Literally adding tens of thousands of users daily, “Where I’ve Been” enthusiasts are growing exponentially. More than 50,000 people have added the application over the weekend, surpassing many of the applications that other users have added. Creator Craig Ulliott seems to be keeping pace well though, balancing working at Blueye Corporation for owner Shannon Smith and keeping his application up to date.
