Blueye Boat Bash Y’arrgh

Friday, September 7th, 2007

blueye Corporation is pleased to announce that its summer boat bash was a success. Our designers, programmers, and staff got together for a high seas adventure. (If you consider the Chicago River the high seas). A rainy forecast tried to dampen our spirits, but the blueye team thought positive and sailed on. We ate, searched for buried treasure, and the ship’s first mate, Swarthy McWilliams, lead us in song & dance. A good time was had by all, For more information on the blueye team and what we’re up to, check out

The Facebook Application Crosses over to MySpace

Friday, September 7th, 2007

The most popular travel application on Facebook.com, Where I’ve Been (WIB), announces the launch of its interactive map on MySpace.com. The 70 million MySpace users can now access the application which has quickly become the travel industry’s leading social networking application.

Where I’ve Been currently holds the No. 1 spot for travel applications on Facebook, making it one of the most popular overall applications. With over 2.6 million users for Where I’ve Been at the top, the No. 2 application comes in with less than half the users at 1.2 million (TripAdvisor). Of the 3,400+ total Facebook applications, the Where I’ve Been map is ranked No.22 on its Most Popular Download list. Approximately 6% of Facebook’s 30 million users currently use the Where I’ve Been interactive tool.

The Where I’ve Been application appears as a world map on a user’s Facebook of MySpace profile page. Users highlight the countries he or she have been to, lived in, or want to go to by clicking on them and changing the color. These personalized maps can then be quickly and easily shared with friends.

Chief strategic officer, Brian Harniman, said, “We’re encouraged by the fast adoption of our application as it serves a need for community building and travel exploration and is attractive to partners who are targeting the wide universe of travel customers.”

After Craig Ulliott created the travel mapping application for Facebook in June 2007, over one million users added the Where I’ve Been map to their profile within the first 30 days, with approximately 30,000 new users daily. Users will be able to add the interactive map to their MySpace blog by visiting whereivebeen.com.

Where I’ve Been, LLC was formed as a Chicago-based start-up company, dedicated to developing software for the travel social networking space. The Where I’ve Been interactive map is an add-on application for Facebook.com and is the company’s first product.

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

That’s right! Blueye and Where I’ve Been have a mascot. It has been no secret that Blueye and Where I’ve Been have been affiliated from the beginning, but now we introduce our mascot, Jackson, the Blueye/WIB dog! He hails all the way from Minnesota. He has used the Where I’ve Been application to learn more about Illinois and was able (with the help of his owner) to book his flight through the travel map facebook application. Check out blueye.com or whereivebeen.com to learn more about our little fireball, Jackson. While you’re at it, check out the Where I’ve Been application on Facebook.com to see just how fun and easy it is to use.
