Mobile Apps For Social Traveling

The holiday season is finally here and that means there’s tons of traveling in our schedules. No better time for us to outline some interesting social applications for those of you on the go.

B4YOUBOARD

I don’t know about you, but when I finally pass security and get a prime seat at the gate, the last thing I want to do is get up with all of my carry on bags and look for some snacks. As always, there’s an app for that. With B4YOUBOARD, you can order your food and nonalcoholic drinks and get it delivered to you for no extra charge. This service is only at a few airports including Chicago’s O’hare, but it seems like the kind of app that we’ll see more of.

Museum of Me App

Intel is using Facebook and giving it a little twist.

Facebook lets everyone keep a decent record of themselves with pictures, videos,  statuses, friends, etc. All you have to do is sign on and relive memories. Intel takes that one step further and makes Facebook users the main exhibit in their own museum.

The Museum of Me app takes your Facebook history and makes you the star of a short film that tours a museum all about you.  Now, this might not be up everyone’s alley, but you have to admit, the Museum of Me app fits right in with the rest of Facebook’s “look at me” vibe.

Check out this video to get a better feel for what it is.

Who knows how this app will progress and effect brands on Facebook? Seeing a friend’s “museum” and noticing they like Brand X in a different format may have a different effect than seeing it in a list of links. Time will tell.

I have to admit, it’s a really interesting idea and I might have to go ahead and try it out soon.  What do you think?
